Veterans Day is fast approaching this coming November 11, and it offers us a day to honor and give thanks to America’s veterans of all wars.

Observed on World War I’s Armistice Day, the date was initially made a federal holiday in 1938 to honor The Great War’s veterans. But it was expanded in meaning and title in 1954 under President Dwight D. Eisenhower after the U.S. conflict with Korea.
